Profiling produces increased surface to volume ratios compared with purely
cylindrical shapes and this, combined with the corrosions resistance and
smooth surface of the glass are significant features. These glass profiles
have interesting optical properties, a feature which provides considerable
scope for use in lighting, as pendants for light fittings, and in the
design of distinctive interior decorations.
